When trying to decorate your home, you may find that it can get pretty expensive, pretty quickly. But if you know where to look (and don’t mind buying used items) you can actually dress up a room for very little money. Also, sometimes vintage stuff makes for the best and most interesting decorations. So to help you in finding these items, here’s a directory of sorts as to where to can find various types of items.
Flea Markets: These are great places to go for various knick knacks and other pieces (like things you’d put on a shelf, picture frames, lamps, etc.) Flea markets tend to have a bit of everything so they are great for a free weekend day to just rummage around. You can find a flea market near you here.
Pawn Shops: These are excellent sources for finding electronics and if you’re going to be doing some DIY stuff in your home, the tools to get it done. Usually, you’ll only find things at pawn shops Hollywood that hold value well. But you never know what you’ll find in one.
Thrift Stores: Thrift shops are sometimes good for furniture, lamps and that sort of thing. While mainly for clothes, home items do pop up. It’s worth it to call a few local ones to see what they carry as you may get lucky.
Garage/Yard/Moving Sales: Probably the most in terms of hit-or-miss, but also the one with the most potential for saving. You really don’t know what you’ll find, but if the garage sale was advertised well in your area, then chances are there will be a pretty decent amount of stuff to look through. Specifically moving sales tend to be the best as they have the most stuff.
